Sustainable Architectural Technology

The Sustainable Architectural Technologist Program provides a strong knowledge and skills foundation that enables graduates to enter this diverse industry at an entry-level.

This intensive program teaches students the fundamentals of core subjects including: Design, Materials and Documentation, all with a strong focus on environmental protection and sustainability.

With an understanding of the design and documentation process, the student is introduced to critical thinking and solution development as it relates to building systems. As well as learning software key to this industry, and digital drawing, students will also be taught freehand artistry as they develop an understanding of buildings and their integration with the natural surrounds.

This is a growing field and offers career opportunities in companies concerned with Architecture and Construction.

This Program also includes a workplace Practicum Placement. Program content leads to the production of a professional portfolio.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Awareness of the nature and value of integrated design practices, familiarity with specific data terminology and language to communicate effectively with allied sustainable disciplines and technical collaboration methods.
  • Understanding the design and documentation process, critical thinking and solutions; in relation to the building systems and cost disciplines from ideation to execution.
  • Ability to develop and master the necessary skills in freehand and digital drawings, visual presentation techniques and communication skills that are the essential tools needed.
