Personal Support Worker

The CTMC Personal Support Worker program prepares students to provide care for patients and clients who require ongoing, daily assistance. Learn to assist with nutritional needs, personal hygiene, household management, mobility, meal preparation, medication management and more. In addition, learn to provide support to patients and their families, to identify and report signs of abuse and neglect, to assist with walking, movement, and positioning, to check and record vital signs and to recognize symptoms of mental health issues. Personal support workers are in greater demand than ever, making this a promising long-term career path for those who are interested in working in the health care sector.

Successful graduates will be ready to pursue employment opportunities in long-term care facilities, seniors’ apartments and retirement homes, group homes, hospitals, adult day programs, home care services and more. You will be qualified for a range of career options, including family caregiver, home support worker, live-in caretaker, personal aide, personal care attendant and respite worker.
