A radiant smile can make anyone feel more confident; who has to know it’s enhanced? If you enjoy casting and modelling, and you are an enthusiast for polished and perfect-looking teeth, why not consider becoming a Denturist?
As a Denturist, you would assess a client’s mouth and take an impression of their teeth and gums. With that finely-detailed mould of the mouth, you would then create oral prostheses such as bridges, crowns, implants, dentures, and partial dentures. You may also make repairs, relines, or adjustments to a removable oral prosthesis.

The fully-outfitted dental laboratory will provide you with the chance to learn in facilities that are similar to what you will encounter when you enter the working work. Training with actual equipment means you will already have bridged any potential knowledge gap when you pursue work as a Denturist. You’ll be familiar with the equipment and procedures, and that confidence will be apparent to your employer, coworkers, and clients.
Oxford College’s Denturism Program is regulated by the College of Denturists of Ontario (CDO). Our curriculum follows the guidelines of the Denturist’s scope of practice and prepares you to take the written and clinical examination offered by CDO. Becoming certified shows that you meet the CDO’s professional standards, which employers look for. Gaining this certification shows you are capable and competent, and it can open employment opportunities to you.
With the ageing baby boomer population, more people will start needing dentures. What’s more, insurance policies are becoming more comprehensive, so more people will have coverage for dentures. Since Denturism is a specialized career, the field is less saturated than many other ‘generalist’ professions.
This means there will be a steady stream of clients coupled with strong employer demand, which makes for a great career outlook for you.
