The Accounting and Payroll Specialist diploma program focuses on financial accounting, payroll, the implementation and operation of computerized accounting systems, and business application software.
Graduates of this program will secure an associate membership in the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA), as well as, be eligible to pursue the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the CPA.
As an Accounting & Payroll Specialist graduate, you will qualify for positions such as: Payroll Specialist, Accounts Payable Clerk, Accounts Receivable Clerk, and Accounting Assistant.

In this program you’ll learn to apply payroll legislation, calculate pay and use administrative software to ensure that employees are working their designated hours, and that cheques are being administered accurately. Accounting concepts and procedures, such as cash flow, assets and liabilities, financial management, banking procedures, analyzing business transactions, and how to properly set up and work with different ledgers form part of this thorough program. Plus, you’ll get hands-on training on how to set up banking and tax service modules in Sage 300.
Students enrolled in the program receive:
Graduates who successfully pass the Canadian Payroll Association-designated courses – Payroll Compliance Legislation, Payroll Fundamentals I, and Payroll Fundamentals II (65% passing grade in each course as well as the final exams) – will be eligible to pursue the CPA’S Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification, nationally recognized as the standard of excellence for payroll training.
