FANS Grade 12 Scholarship

Official Guidelines Updated: March 2026

Key Facts for 2025–2026:

The FANS Grade 12 Scholarship awards $500 to students who graduate from a Nunavut secondary school with an 80% or higher average. You must be currently receiving FANS support to receive this scholarship. Submit your transcripts to the FANS office — the scholarship is awarded in the fall term following the academic year in which you qualified.

The FANS Grade 12 Scholarship recognizes academic excellence among Nunavut secondary school graduates who go on to pursue post-secondary education. It is one of several scholarships offered by the Government of Nunavut to FANS recipients to reward strong academic achievement.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the FANS Grade 12 Scholarship, you must:

  • Have graduated from a Nunavut secondary school.
  • Have achieved an 80% or higher average in Grade 12.
  • Be currently receiving FANS support — you must be an active FANS recipient at the time the scholarship is awarded.
  • Be a Nunavut resident for the period of study in which the scholarship applies.

Award Amount and Payment

The Grade 12 Scholarship is worth $500. It is paid directly to your bank account by direct deposit. Scholarships are not awarded until the fall term following the academic year in which you qualified — meaning your Grade 12 results are assessed after the fact, and payment comes in the fall of your first year of post-secondary studies.

How to Claim Your Scholarship:

Submit your official Grade 12 transcripts to the FANS office for assessment. FANS will review your results and confirm eligibility. You must be receiving FANS support at the time the scholarship is paid. Contact the FANS office at fans@gov.nu.ca or 1-877-860-0680 if you have questions.

Other FANS Scholarships

The Grade 12 Scholarship is the first in a series of FANS academic scholarships. If you continue to an undergraduate degree, you may be eligible for the FANS Undergraduate Scholarship ($750/year for an “A” average), which continues into graduate studies for high achievers.

Other Financial Aid Options

In addition to FANS scholarships, new post-secondary students may access a full range of FANS benefits including Primary Universal Benefits (tuition, books, travel), Secondary Universal Benefits (monthly living allowance), and loan support depending on your student category. The Government of Nunavut also maintains a list of other scholarships and bursaries available to Nunavut students from external organizations.
