About the Program

CDI College's Veterinary Health Care Assistant program—at the Calgary South campus and online in Alberta—makes you an essential member of a veterinary care team in just 43 weeks, six of them spent in a real practicum placement.

What You'll Learn

  • Animal nursing, diagnostic imaging, veterinary dentistry, anatomy, and surgical preparation
  • Animal handling, nutrition management, behaviour, and welfare best practices
  • Three certifications built in: Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED, DOGSAFE® Canine First Aid, and WHMIS 2015
  • Real clinic experience through your six-week practicum placement

Career Opportunities

Roles: Veterinary Assistant, Animal Care Attendant, Clinic Support Staff in Calgary-area veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, and care facilities

Why it matters: Alberta's veterinary practices hire assistants year-round, and arriving with canine first aid and workplace safety certifications already complete—plus six weeks of clinic experience—puts you ahead of every uncertified applicant.
