Helping Canadians get back to work.

Santé, Assistance Et Soins Infirmiers (5325)

The Health, Assistance and Nursing Care - 5325 program at CDI College prepares the student* to practice the profession of Licensed Practical Nurse in various private and public health care institutions. Given the significant changes in the health care network and the considerable staffing needs, this field offers numerous full-time and part-time employment opportunities. All indicators confirm that this sector will continue to grow due to the aging population, health care provided by family members, the shift towards outpatient care, and the development of the private sector. Moreover, once the Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) is obtained, the path is open towards the college-level Nursing Techniques program, designed and written as part of a harmonization project aimed at facilitating the transition from one program to another or from one level of education to another, avoiding duplication of learning.

Program Objectives

The Health, Assistance and Nursing Care - 5325 program has been designed so that students can:

  • acquire the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes necessary to differentiate between the concepts of health and illness;
  • acquire the knowledge and flexibility to understand and apply the taught techniques;
  • establish an effective helping relationship with people who have health needs, participate in team life as required by the modern organization of medical care;
  • communicate effectively with people who have health needs and their families, with their superiors, and with other members of the care team.

This program allows the student to acquire solid knowledge in nursing care. The alternation between study and internship, as well as the significant portion of practical work carried out in the laboratory, contribute to preparing the student to practice the profession of Licensed Practical Nurse.
