About the Program

The Hairstyling diploma program prepares you for creative careers in the beauty industry in under a year at Modern College's accelerated program. You'll learn cutting, coloring, barbering, and styling from industry professionals in small class settings with real salon experience working with actual clients. Modern College's clinic floor for students is open 5 days a week, providing more hands-on training than most Ontario beauty schools.

What You'll Learn

• Core hairstyling techniques and barbering - Hair cutting, hair coloring and highlighting, styling, barbering using clippers and scissors for men's cuts including fades, beard and moustache shaping, cleaning hairlines, basic men's facial grooming
• Chemical treatments and specialized services - Chemical treatments, scalp and hair care, trending techniques with Goldwell professional products, salon operations, and client relationship building
• Business and industry skills - Salon business fundamentals, professional communication, customer service, creative expression, and industry connections preparing you for salons, barbershops, or freelance work
• Real salon experience and locations - Work with clients and models sooner than most Ontario beauty schools, clinic floor open 5/5 days, available at 3 Northern Ontario campuses: North Bay, Sudbury, and Barrie
