  Medical Office Assistants perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other healthcare practitioners running smoothly. Typical job duties include measuring vital signs, preparing patients for physical exams, assisting pediatricians with children, preparing surgical trays, performing billing and bookkeeping, working with patient charts and data, and arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services.

• Early Childhood Education Post-Basic

  About the Program

  Stenberg College offers the 
   Infant Toddler and Special Needs Early Childhood Educator Program (Dual Diploma) to those who have already completed an 
   level program. The ECE Post-Basic program is 29 weeks and full time.

  With the Infant/Toddler post-basic specialization, graduates are qualified for employment in childcare facilities caring for infants and toddlers (up to three years old). With the post-basic education in Special Needs, graduates work in programs with children who require extra support, from infancy to school age. Post-basic graduates are also prepared to handle a wider range of administrative and supervisory responsibilities.

  Combined Delivery

  We offer the Early Childhood Education Post-Basic program in a combined delivery format. In this format, 
   (with the exception of the practicum) are offered through guided online learning combined with weekly classroom-based sessions. This flexible delivery format is designed for individuals who may be balancing other responsibilities such as work and/or family. In the Post-Basic Infant Toddler and Special Needs program you will complete orientation followed by six theory courses in a combined online and classroom-based delivery format followed by a six-week 
  . This will then be followed by two more theory courses delivered in a combined delivery format, followed by a final six-week 
   experience.

  About the Program

  Are you looking for a rewarding career in hospital administration? As a Hospital Support Specialist, you will be trained to provide valuable clerical, secretarial, and administrative support in public and private health care settings. Hospital Support Specialist graduates can hold a variety of job titles, but typical duties can include the admitting and registration of patients into various departments and/or hospital units, billing, collecting patient data, data entry, clerical tasks, and retrieving, assembling, and disassembling patients’ charts.

  Stenberg College is the only private post-secondary school in BC offering this unique industry-specific program specializing in administrative duties within the health care field. Hospital Support Specialist students receive training in medical terminology, professional communications, office operations, keyboarding/data entry, registration, diagnostic imaging, the release of information, health records clerical duties, Meditech, and other computerized health information systems as applicable. This program will prepare graduates for entry-level employment as an Admitting/Registration Clerk, Health Records Clerk, Diagnostic Imaging Clerk, Hospital Switchboard Operator, Medical Secretary, and much more.

• Nursing Unit Clerk

  About the Program

  Are you organized, detail-oriented and professional? If this sounds like you, consider a career as a 
  . Nursing Unit Clerks act as the heart of a health care unit by maintaining the pulse. They direct resources, communicate with patients, nurses and doctors, and ensure urgent tasks are completed efficiently. A Nursing Unit Clerk must be able to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and possess strong communication skills.

  Nursing Unit Clerks are the anchors of patient care departments. They focus on the non-clinical tasks of the department, and deliver and communicate physician’s orders with nursing staff and the other departments (laboratory, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, dietary, and therapy). Depending on the health care environment, Nursing Unit Clerks may also be referred to as Nursing Unit Coordinators, Nursing Unit Assistants or Health Unit Coordinators.

  Stenberg’s Health Care Assistant – International Program is designed to provide students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to function effectively as front-line caregivers, and respected members of the healthcare team, in both community and facility settings. Students complete 3 months of

• Post-Graduate Diploma in Canadian Nursing

  About the Program

  Becoming a nurse in Canada requires internationally educated nurses (IENs) to navigate through many different processes and regulatory bodies. The outcome is certainly worth the effort, but the steps can become complicated and at times, overwhelming. This is why we developed the Post-Graduate Diploma in Canadian Nursing – to help guide you through the processes and prepare you to meet the entry-level competencies required by the various nursing regulatory bodies! The Post-Graduate Diploma in Canadian Nursing with Co-op prepares internationally educated nurses with the knowledge, skills, and requisites to practice safe, ethical and competent care in the Canadian health care setting. To transition IENs into the Canadian health care setting as quickly as possible, the first 19 weeks of the program prepares you to register and work as a Health Care Assistant. Your paid, 10-week Cooperative Work Experience sets you up for success. This program respects the education and experience of IENs but also recognizes the challenges IENs face. The program will support you in meeting the competency requirements for registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in British Columbia, including knowledge-based and collaborative practice, accountability, ethical behaviour and therapeutic relationships.
