Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • The Accounting Diploma program provides students with a solid foundation of current accounting practices. Students will learn both manual and computerized accounting and computer applications. Our curriculum delivery combines instructor led lectures and computer based learning and supports active learning strategies by using case studies to demonstrate the connection between theory and practice. Evaluation methods include written and practical examinations as well as computer based projects and assignments. Our dedicated instructors are qualified and experienced Accounting professionals. Articulation– Credit Transfer Graduates of the SCBT Accounting program may articulate to Canadore College of Applied Arts & Technology and receive a credit transfer of 9 credits towards the completion of the Canadore College 2 year Business Accounting Ontario College Diploma Program. (Articulating students must meet the admission requirements of Canadore College)
  • In today’s business world companies require information on which to base their business decisions.  The Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst provides this information by collecting data from multiple sources to develop reports used to analyse information. The program provides full coverage of Microsoft Business Intelligence Technology Stack and engineering fundamentals including SDLC, Project implementation Methodologies such as Waterfall, Incremental/Agile methodologies, and programming languages, C#/Java with OOA/OOP design patterns and principles as well as an understanding of others database solutions including Oracle Database and related ETL tools. Upon completion of the program the student will be able to develop Business Intelligence presentations such as reporting, business KPI, Dashboard and Visualization with Microsoft BI technical stacks; install and manage Microsoft SQL Server; implement Data Modelling for Databases; design and model  OLTP and OLAP Data Process Model; develop complex SQL Query and Stored Procedure based on Microsoft SQL Server; process non-structure data with Hadoop and HDFS technology; debug and troubleshoot system problems and issues and resolve issues and write technical proposals, technical requirements and solution designs.
  • n this full time 105 week Diploma program students will learn the business fundamentals of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources and Information Systems. The program also covers topics such as International Business, Business Law, and Entrepreneurship. Articulation – Credit Transfer; Graduates of the SCBT Business Management program may articulate to Canadore College of Applied Arts & Technology and receive a credit transfer of 50 credits towards the completion of the Canadore College 2 year Business Ontario College Diploma Program. (Articulating students must meet the admission requirements of Canadore College) Certification and Diploma to Degree Pathways Graduates of the Canadore College two-year Business Program are eligible for advanced standing/exemptions for industry Certification and credit transfer to University.
  • This full-time 42.5 week Diploma program will provide students with a solid foundation of current accounting and payroll practices. Students will learn both manual and computerized accounting, business computer applications and learn how to apply these skills in the real world. In addition, the program provides a comprehensive coverage of Canadian Payroll Administration and process including Labour Standards, basics of payroll practices and procedures, relevant income tax provisions related to salaries, CPP and EI deductions and the importance of using a sound accounting platform to run the payroll accounting system. Skilled Trades, Auto, Fire Programs

  • The Automotive Technology (pre-apprenticeship) diploma program will prepare you for your career in automotive service and repair. The Automotive Technology program is a blend of theory and practice with an emphasis on practical hands-on learning delivered in our 2000 square foot on-site workshop. Students will learn the terminology and application of automotive mechanic tools, the operational theory, principles and functions of all automotive engineering systems and the importance of compliance with the industry health and safety regulations. As well, students will gain an understanding of the importance of providing excellent customer service; communicating effectively and the routine tasks involved in the daily operation of an automotive service technician business. Articulation – Credit Transfer Graduates of the SCBT Automotive Technology program may articulate to Canadore College of Applied Arts & Technology and receive a credit transfer of 39 credits towards the completion of the Canadore College 1.5 year Motive Power Technician Ontario College Diploma Program. (Articulating students must meet the admission requirements of Canadore College) Diploma to Degree Pathway  Graduates of the Canadore College 1.5 year Motive Power Technician may be eligible for advanced standing/exemptions for credit transfer to University.
  • The Building Services Engineering (BSE) diploma program provides the foundation for specialized building services training and is designed for students with strong academic backgrounds. Graduates of the Building Services Engineering diploma program will become key members of a facility management team, providing specialized design and management services and creating internal building comfort and functionality whilst minimizing energy to reduce the impact on global warming and climate change. Key content within the program includes analysis of building performances, low energy design for buildings and environmental systems, fundamentals of engineering and practical experimentation, design of building and environmental systems, design projects, computational analysis, the use of industry standard software and extended software application, and management.
  • The CNC/MasterCAM diploma training program prepares our graduates for a career within Canada’s growing industrial community. Upon the successful completion of the CNC/MasterCAM training program graduates will understand and be able to apply Computerized Numerical Control technology (CNC) from the introduction of CNC programming to advanced applications. As well, graduates will be able to develop CNC programs for a variety of machines, such as drills, mills, machining centers and lathes, using verifiable manual and computerized methods. The focus of the program is on practical industrial applications and problem solving using a professional approach. Articulation– Credit Transfer Graduates of the SCBT CNC/MasterCAM program may articulate to Canadore College of Applied Arts & Technology and receive a credit transfer of 24 credits towards the completion of the Canadore College 42 week Machinist-Mechanical Technician Ontario College Diploma Program. (Articulating students must meet the admission requirements of Canadore College.)
  • This course is for welders looking to upgrade their STICK (all positions) and FCAW (all positions) techniques. Course will also provide advanced understanding of various types of stick rod usage and operation skills. This course offers flexible scheduling (days or weekends) up to 35 hours in duration.
  • The Gas Technician diploma program is taught using official TSSA curriculum which prepares students for the TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority) Gas Fitter 3 and Gas Fitter 2 licensing examinations. The Gas Technician curriculum is delivered via lectures and practical hands-on workshops offering the advantage of practical application of lecture material. Evaluation techniques involve written and practical tests, and assignments. Our Gas Technician program is delivered by our dedicated instructors who are certified Gas Fitters experienced in both teaching and working in the Gas Technician field.   • The HVAC Technician program delivers the components of the TSSA G3 and G2 curriculum up to the level of  licensing* required in the Fuels industry. In addition the program covers the foundations of Air Conditioning, the Principles of Residential and Commercial design and HVAC safety including Ozone Depletion Prevention training. Delivery of course material combines instructor led lectures with supervised workshops providing hands-on experience to prepare students for industry service requirements including diagnosis and procedures. Upon graduation, the student will be able to Install, troubleshoot and overhaul heating, ventilation, air handling and air conditioning systems. *To be eligible for employment as a licensed Gas Technician, students must successfully complete the TSSA G3 and G2 examinations. Examinations are held at Stanford College.
  • The Industrial Electrician (PLC & Robotics) Diploma program is designed to provide our students with the knowledge and tools required to work in the field of industrial automation and control. Supported by computers to interface with the systems and equipment, students are introduced to the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) of OMRON, Allen Bradley and SIEMENS programming systems, and Robotics hardware. Students will also learn electrical basics, applicable Electrical Codes and use AutoCAD to create electrical drawings.  Upon graduation, the student will be able to read and create electrical drawings, design, install, and maintain electronic equipment used in modern industrial processes, and work on every type of programming system, from the simplest fuses and motors to sophisticated electronic computer interface boards, motor drives, programmable logic controllers, solid-state devices and robotics.
  • The PLC Specialist Diploma program is designed to provide our students with the knowledge and tools required to work in the field of industrial automation and control. Supported by computers to interface with the systems and equipment, students are introduced to the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) of OMRON, Allen Bradley and SIEMENS programming systems, and Robotics hardware. Upon graduation, the student will be able to read blueprints and circuit diagrams, design, install, program and maintain electronic equipment used in modern industrial processes, and work on every type of programming system, from the simplest fuses and motors to sophisticated electronic computer interface boards, motor drives, programmable logic controllers, solid-state devices and robotics.
  • Are you interested in working as a Welder or Welder Inspector? Our in-depth program offers solid coverage of welding theory and practical modules to prepare students for employment as Welders and Welding Inspectors. The program curriculum consists of Level 1 inspection courses and the major welding processes of GMAW, GTAW, MCAW, and SMAW. For detailed information, call our campus now! Particular emphasis is placed on the Practical Hands-on modules of the program and includes 714 hours of practical lab training to prepare you for industry testing and employment. At the successful conclusion of the program students will be eligible to complete 8 welding tests, choosing those which best support their individual career path. Students may choose their tests from both CWB and TSSA. Welder Qualification Tests: CWB and/or TSSA- 8 tests in total are included. Note: The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) requires testing in the following sequence: flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead. Program Delivery:  The program is taught by qualified and certified welders with industry experience.

Engineering Programs

  • The Building Services Engineering (BSE) diploma program provides the foundation for specialized building services training and is designed for students with strong academic backgrounds. Technology, Networking Programs

  • The Computer Systems Technology diploma training program is designed to train the student to become an IT professional by learning and understanding the exciting technologies people use everyday. Students will build a solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals, various computer systems and gain software engineering skills to develop computer applications through hands-on courses. The program will expose the students to advanced concepts and offers hands-on training in network design and optimization, advanced topics in security, data communication, advanced Java computer programming, CISCO, UNIX/Linux administration, GUI Programming, SQL Server, C and C++ Programming and Apache Web Server.
  • The Computer Aided Design and Drafting program will equip students with the knowledge and skills to perform computerized design and drafting functions in an industrial or engineering setting. This program is designed to provide students with the necessary technical knowledge and skills to seek entry-level CADD positions. Our CADD diploma program will provide students with a combination of mechanical and CADD software training. In order to meet the various industrial demands that require the capability to use multiple applications, our students study AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, AutoDesk Revit Architecture, SolidWorks, PTC CREO Parametrics and Unigraphics.
  • The Industrial Automation diploma program is designed to provide our students with the knowledge and tools required to work in the rapidly expanding field of industrial automation and control. Supported by computers to interface with the systems and equipment, students are introduced to the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) of OMRON, Allen Bradley and SIEMENS programming systems and Robotics hardware.
  • The Mobile Application Developer Diploma program provides students with a solid foundation of the theories of computer operating systems (Windows 8 and Linux), networking and the theories of operating systems for MobilePhones (Android and Windows Phone), HTML, CSS and JavaScript fundamentals. Graduates will understand the architecture and development model of Java /C# for Android and Windows Phones; MVC design patterns and gain hands-on experience with client-site MVC Frameworks with C# and Java. In addition graduates will have an understanding of engineering fundamentals including SDLC, Waterfall, Incremental/Agile methodologies, and OOA/OOP principles and use with C#/Java technology as well as a an understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP,HTTP/HTTPS. In addition graduates will understand the working model of JavaScript Libraries and have a strong knowledge of programming with SQL and Queries. Upon successful completion of the program the graduate will be able to build and develop applications for Android and IOS -based mobile devices.
  • The Web Application Developer Diploma program provides students with a solid foundation of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript fundamentals, jQuery, Microsoft SQL Server, C# and ASP.net. Graduates will understand the architecture and development model of Java, MVC design patterns and gain hands-on experience with client-site MVC Frameworks. In addition graduates will have an understanding of engineering fundamentals including SDLC, Waterfall, Incremental/Agile methodologies, and OOA/OOP principles and use. Graduates will have a strong knowledge of programming with SQL and Queries.  Upon completion of the program the student will be able to develop websites, and web applications through the entire SDLC from conception to production with C# and ASP .Net technologies; design and develop Front-end web applications with HTML, CSS and JavaScript/JQuery; develop web applications with modern web development frameworks and libraries; develop complex SQL Query and Stored Procedure based on Microsoft SQL Server; debug and troubleshoot system problems and issues and resolve issues and write technical proposals, technical requirements and solution designs.

Travel, Tourism, Hospitality Programs

  • Stanford’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Diploma program provides students with the foundation for a career within the hospitality and tourism industry. Our program is centered on best business practices and skills related to the industry in Canada and abroad. In addition to program specific courses, students receive a solid foundation of critical skills such as problem solving, presentation, communication, team dynamics and analytical abilities and further apply these to a number of different industry case studies covering a broad range of sectors. Stanford International College offers this program in partnership with the  American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI). The EI is widely recognized as the pre- eminent leader in hospitality certification. The Hospitality and Tourism Management program at Stanford College uses AHLEI textbooks, curriculum and examinations and helps you meet the requirements for AHLEI industry certification. Graduates of our diploma program will also be awarded an AHLEI Hospitality Management Diploma, a Hospitality Operations Certificate and a Rooms Division Specialization Certificate. AHLEI credentials are recognized globally. Articulation – University Degree – Credit Transfer Graduates of the SCBT Hospitality program may articulate to Cape Breton University (CBU) and receive a credit transfer of 30 credits towards the completion of the 3 year Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management Degree Program. Human & Social Services, CSW Programs

  • The Quality Control and Assurance diploma program (QA/QC) is designed to provide a strong technical education in the area of Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) and prepare the graduate for employment in the field of Quality Control. Students will develop their technical and analytical skills using commonly used methods supported by discussions based on real-life subjects and samples.
