Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • Licensed practical nurses are a vital part of today’s health care team—in acute hospital care, long-term care, and in the community. You provide compassionate, professional nursing care to individuals throughout the human lifespan; infants to seniors. In just two years, we’ll help you develop into a competent, confident nurse capable of making a positive difference in the health and well-being of individuals, their families, and our communities. Onsite labs and community-based clinical experiences let you apply nursing knowledge, theory, and skills in a variety of environments. Our experienced faculty help you grow into a competent, confident nurse capable of bringing a holistic, humanistic approach to patient care. You’ll study:

    • personal and professional relationships

Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • If you like being a part of the decision-making process, and are interested in organization culture and interpersonal dynamics, the Business Management specialty will appeal to you. You could work in an administrative role in a wide range of public and privately owned enterprises, crown corporations and government organizations, or start your own business. Students will develop knowledge and skills in management, leadership and decision making, interpersonal and organizational behavior, finance and managerial accounting, international business and e-business, entrepreneurship, and retail strategy and relationship selling. Diploma to a Degree Upon completion of the Business Diploma in Management, you can apply to transfer some of your Business courses to degree programs at University of Regina, University of Lethbridge and University Canada West.
  • This program provides knowledge and skill development related to the business office environment, with an emphasis on computer applications. Instruction is augmented by projects that will give you a hands-on understanding of the demands and rewards of work in an office setting. You’ll learn how to:
    • Edit and write business letters, memos and email communication.
    • Effectively use leading business software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, desktop publishing and Adobe to create business documents.
    • Execute office procedures such as reception, mail processing, email communication, calendaring, telephone communication, maintaining office equipment, task management and meeting participation.
    • Generate, maintain and retrieve manual and electronic records.
    • Use interpersonal communications in the workplace.
    • Use automated accounting software and do basic accounting.
     

Education, Teaching Programs

  • If you like working one-on-one with kids that have different needs and you want to see them included in the classroom, becoming an educational assistant might be the career for you. Educational assistants provide the all-important one-on-one support that makes today’s inclusive classrooms possible. The Educational Assistant program is a 36 weeks in length and is respected by school boards province-wide. We’ll teach you the skills and give you the hands-on experience you need to make a lasting difference in a child’s life. Your job is to assist classroom teachers by working with children or youth with diverse learning needs. This course provides the knowledge and skills you’ll need, including:
    • Basic care skills (lifting to feeding)
    • Classroom management and crisis prevention techniques and strategies
    • Communication skills and professionalism
    • Cultural awareness and family dynamics
    • Exceptionalities (causes, characteristics and accommodations)
    • Social, emotional, cognitive development (children and teens)
    • Supporting teachers in specific subject areas
    • Your role in the classroom

Skilled Trades, Auto, Fire Programs

  • This 18 week program provides entry-level skill training.  You will learn how to make electrical installations and perform maintenance duties according to industry standards.  The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Branch grant the first of four levels of training to graduates who enter the Construction Electrician Apprenticeship Program. Graduates of this program may find employment with electrical contractors, large manufacturing and mining firms, retail outlets, or wholesale outlets.
  • The 36-week Heavy Equipment & Truck & Transport Technician Certificate program gives you basic training in two high-demand mechanical trades at the same time. Heavy Duty equipment technicians work on large mobile equipment – bulldozers, cranes, graders, loaders, & earthmovers used in construction, mining, forestry, & more. Truck & Transport mechanics work on trucks, buses, & highway transport vehicles for dealers, garages & transportation companies. Successful graduates could receive credit towards their journeyperson certification from Sask Apprenticeship (SATCC).
  • This 17-week program gives you a working knowledge of machinery common to most industries and an introduction to preventative maintenance procedures. This program covers all level 1 subjects and is recognized by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC). Work experience of 2 weeks is part of the program. Graduates may find employment in commercial or industrial operations that use machinery. These include wood, cereal, meat processing and power generating plants, hard rock and potash mines, mills, and refineries.
  • Starting in 2020, Southeast College will become the training provider for the Powerline Technician Apprenticeship program (Levels one through four). About Powerline Technician: Individuals working in this trade construct and maintain overhead and underground power lines and related equipment. Powerline Technicians:
    • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems.
    • Erect and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers, and guy wires.
    • Splice, solder, and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution and transmission networks using related electrical tools.
    • Inspect and test overhead and underground power lines and cables and associated equipment.
    • Climb ladders or operate hydraulic buckets when working aloft on poles and towers, or work in confined spaces such as trenches and tunnels to install power lines and cables and associated equipment.
  • This 20-week enhanced program is based on Level 1 Apprenticeship Training. As a graduate and after you become an apprentice, you can apply to the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Commission for credit for Level 1 Welding training.

Culinary Arts Programs

  • If you want to get into the workforce quickly and you like working in fast-paced environments, Food Service Cook program is a great choice. Food service cooks prepare meals and snacks for large numbers of people—and they are in demand in restaurants, hotels, health and educational institutes, remote mining camps, and more.
    The program is designed with industry input, so you’ll get practical skills. In fact, most of your “classroom” learning is done in a commercial kitchen. Food Service Cook is an intensive 12-week applied certificate program. You’ll get the kind of entry level cooking skills and hands-on experience employers want, while learning how to prepare a large number of orders. Get practical experience in:
    • Basic cooking principles
    • Soups, pastas and cold foods
    • Breakfast and dairy
    • Meat and poultry basics
    • Kitchen tools and equipment
    • Professionalism
    • Safety
    • Sanitation
    • WHMIS

Beauty, Esthetics, Barber Programs

  • Hairstylist is a certificate program. Hairstylists who want to work in the trade are legally required to first complete a 1500 hour pre-employment program. You will learn how to perform techniques on hair, wigs, hairpieces, skin, and nails. You will also develop artistry, salon management, and customer service skills. This program provides an apprenticeship period of up to two years.
