Skilled Trades, Auto, Fire Programs

  • With over 25 years of experience in the transportation industry – a fully equipped lab, professional training class room, and a fleet of current model trucks we ensure comprehensive quality training for our students. We focus on real world training (practical) in addition to the Classroom training (knowledge) that is essential to ensure our students are dispatch ready. Upgrading your license to a PROFESSIONAL level is a lot more involved that simply passing a test. Your knowledge and skill set must also be improved/upgraded to insure that you maximize your earnings /career potential Regardless of your career path needs – driving for local – regional or long haul – Gov’t employment – we prepare you to succeed.

    Program Availability

    Full- time 244hrs Entry-level professional truck drivers training course.

    Program Pre-requisites

    • Minimum 18 years of age
    • Full Class 5 License
    • Class 1 Authorized learners – Air Brake Authorized endorsement
    • Valid medical record on file with the Manitoba Public Insurance, Medical Records

    Training Delivery Plan

    At Perfect One Truck Driving School all our courses are inclusive – of practical skills and knowledge training as per industry standards – for the applicable license
    • Classroom Theory – 80 hours
    • Practical Observation & Training – 160 hours
    • Practical Testing with MPI- 4 hours
    • Total Training – 244 hours
  • Perfect One Driving School is a Registered MELT provider – a requirement from Manitoba Public Insurance for all truck drivers undergoing road test effective Sep 1, 2019. The MELT course consists of 121.5 hours of standardized training to cover knowledge required to operate a semi-trailer truck safely. Drivers are required to successfully complete this mandatory training once with validity of 5 year period. Existing Class1 Drivers with a Manitoba Class1 license issued before Sep 1, 2019 do not need to retest or take MELT course.
    • 40.5 hours of classroom training
    • 40.0 hours of training in yard
    • 41.0 hours of in-cab training
    Language assessment will be conducted as part of the training requirement. Those able to demonstrate results of an existing language assessment test and meeting requirements are not required to retest.
  • We acquaint new professional truck drivers with driving heavy duty trucks and trailers. We also provide refresher training on Air Brake, Transmission, Suspension and other related information. This program includes
    • Pre-Trip Vehicle inspection
    • Air Brake endorsement – including lab times
    • Class 3 driving in cab – Bobtail – – proper turning – gear selection – mirrors etc
    • One MPIC road test
