    The Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) Certificate program prepares you to become a qualified CCA in Nova Scotia, equipping you with the skills needed to provide respectful, person-focused care to individuals of all ages. Through interactive academic training and hands-on practice, you'll develop a comprehensive understanding of Canadian healthcare protocols and excellent patient-care techniques.

    This 26-week in-person program combines classroom learning with real-world healthcare experience. You'll attend in-person lectures led by healthcare experts to develop the academic theory and knowledge required to put your skills into practice during hands-on placements. Complete one skills development placement and three mentorship placements in various care settings, including home care, nursing homes, acute care facilities, and other approved care settings. The program helps you develop the care-focused skills and attributes needed to successfully pass the provincial certification exam under the supervision of registered nurses and licensed practical nurses.
