    Become Qualified in Accounting and Payroll Administration

    Throughout this program, which is affiliated with the Canadian Payroll Association, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the legislative requirements to manage an organization’s compliance requirements. When you complete the course, you may choose to get certified. If you get certified, you join a growing community of supportive professionals and gain access to the resources you need to stay current and compliant.

    During the Accounting and Payroll Administration program, you’ll learn how to:

    • Keep financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
    • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers, and prepare financial statements
    • Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax, and other bills
    • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers’ compensation forms, pension contribution forms, and other government documents

    What You Need to Complete the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification

    PCP certification requires three core courses, one transfer of credit and one year of weighted, related work experience. Please see the requirements in completion order listed below.

    1. Payroll Compliance Legislation (PCL)
    2. Payroll Fundamentals 1 (PF1)
    3. Payroll Fundamentals 2 (PF2)
    4. Introduction to Accounting (transfer of credit; offered at post-secondary institutions)
    5. PCP Work Experience Requirement Application (WERA) (a minimum of one-year work experience in payroll)

    Canadian Payroll Association Membership

    Three of the core modules of the APA program are licensed by the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA). The CPA offers the only payroll certifications in Canada.     As a Massage Therapist, you will assess soft tissues and joints of the body for treatment and prevention of dysfunction, injury, pain, and physical disorders. You will develop specialized knowledge and hands-on training to assist patients with relaxation and recovery. Upon graduation, students must pass the CMTO board exam to become a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).

    Oxford College’s intensive Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technologist program is specifically designed to bring you complete, hands-on training. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and manufacturing.

    During the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technologist program, you’ll learn how to:

    • Operate electronic or computerized control panels from a central control room to monitor and optimize physical and chemical processes for several processing units
    • Control processes start-up, shutdown, and troubleshooting
    • Monitor outside process equipment
    • Adjust equipment, valves, pumps, and controls, and process equipment
    • Authorize or co-sign maintenance work orders
    • Shut down, isolate, and prepare process units or production equipment for maintenance
    • Sample products, perform tests, record data, carry out statistical process control on process operations, and write production logs
    • Develop operator procedures for normal operation, start-up, or shutdown of unit
    • Participate in safety audits and programs, and provide emergency response when required

    You may also be called upon to rotate between different processing units during shift cycles as well as train other workers and co-lead with supervisory responsibilities.

    As a Primary Care Paramedic, you will administer pre-hospital emergency medical care to patients with injuries or medical illnesses and transport them to hospitals or other medical facilities for further medical care. Through hands-on learning, you will develop critical-thinking and decision-making skills to effectively deal with medical emergencies. You will also be trained to communicate with patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals in a professional and compassionate manner.

    During the Primary Care Paramedic program, you’ll learn how to:

    • Assess the extent of injuries or medical illnesses of trauma victims, patients with respiratory disease and stress, overdose and poisoning victims, industrial accident victims, and other ill or injured individuals to determine emergency medical treatment
    • Administer pre-hospital emergency care to patients such as oxygen therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), spinal immobilization, bandaging, and splinting
    • Apply adjunctive equipment for ventilation and circulation complications, administer medications, and provide other advanced emergency treatment to patients
    • Transport patients to a hospital or other medical facilities for further medical care
