The Safe Food Handler Course is a full day in-class course facilitated by a public health inspector. The food handler exam is administered on the same day, after the course. Course topics include: food-borne illness, microorganisms, time and temperature, receiving and storage, microbiological contamination, personal hygiene, cleaning and sanitizing, pest control and food safety management. Handling food safely is important to help reduce the risk of becoming sick after eating and drinking. Anyone who prepares food can benefit from food safety training, but we especially recommend it for those who work in the food services.  In order to successfully obtain the food handler certificate, you must score at least 70% on the certification exam. Once issued, food handler certificates are valid across Ontario for five years.

The New NACC PSW Program is based upon the Ontario Personal Support Worker Training Standard Released in October 2014.  The NACC program content, standards and guidelines, combined with clinical component of the program, ensure that the graduates have the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful as a Personal Support Worker.  It is a single training program that sets a common standard for Regulated Career Colleges, Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology and Boards of Education. The Personal Support Worker (PSW) program prepares graduates to provide supportive care to individuals across their lifespan by assisting them with  their activities of daily living, including clients experiencing cognitive impairment, physical disability, and mental health challenges.

The Medication Administration for Personal Support Workers (PSWs) program prepares individuals in all aspects of dealing with medication in any work environment.  Students learn about the laws, administration routes, protocols, types of medication and how a PSW can protect themselves within the work environment when medication is part of their scope. This program also enables the PSW to give medication in a safe manner. The PSW will gain knowledge in the common medication administered by a PSW, acquire accurate information on the legal aspect of administering medication including the controlled Acts in Ontario, obtain, develop and master the different skills necessary in medication administration, understand the different rights of medication and will show a return demonstration on administering medication through different routes. Medication Administration for PSWs Program is approved as a non-vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.  It is taught by trained professionals in the industry – they have real-world experience.

A comprehensive two-day course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) skills and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training for those who need training due to work requirements and for those who want more knowledge on how to respond to emergencies in the community and at home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial worker safety and insurance boards (WSIB in Ontario) for all workplaces/sites and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. The course content includes chapters in The Red Cross, Preparing to Respond, The EMS System, Check Call Care, Airway and Breathing Emergencies, Circulation Emergencies, First Aid for Respiratory and Cardiac Arrest, Life-threatening Wound Care, Head and Spinal Injuries, Bone, Muscle and Joint Injuries, Sudden Medical Emergencies such as diabetic shock, Environmental Emergencies, and Poisons.
