Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • Program Information

    This 2 year, post-secondary Cambrian College diploma program delivered at Hanson College is designed for students who want to build their knowledge in a broad range of important business functions. The curriculum in this program guides the students through the following areas: business finance and structures, accounting procedures, personnel management, meeting regulatory requirements, new business development, and organizational planning. Students in all business and accounting programs share a common first year and once completed successfully, move forward to specialize in either Business or Business Administration – Accounting. Graduates have the knowledge, practical skills, and proficiency to organize business assets and motivate employees toward greater productivity.

Languages, ESL Programs

  • Brief Program Description Students will learn effective skills and strategies that will help them meet language proficiency requirements. In this course, an equal emphasis is placed on essential study skills and English language acquisition. The core-curriculum will focus on academic reading and writing, communication skills and strategies, comprehension and critical thinking and research skills, in accordance with first-year college standards.
    Admission Requirements All applicants from non-English-speaking countries must demonstrate adequate English language proficiency to be successful at the college level.  English language proficiency can be demonstrated through: -obtaining a grade of 60% or higher on the Hanson English Placement Test; or -obtaining a grade of 49% or below on the Hanson English Placement Test and enrolling in full-time English for Academic Purposes program. Upon successful completion of EAP full-time program, applicants may reapply to the college programs.
    Learning Objectives Completion of this program the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the English profeciencies abilities at CLB 6-7.
    Program Duration 15 weeks, 18 hours/ week, 270 hours total

Travel, Tourism, Hospitality Programs

  • Program Information

    This program provides students with the most important skills required to work in any sector of the tourism industry. The curriculum follows the industry requirements by offering courses in world destinations, selling and customer service, transportation, communication, product knowledge, tour development and management, tourism law, business math, and event management. The students will learn to research, solve problems, be team players, exhibit professionalism and adapt to an ever-changing industry. Students will become familiar with world tourist destinations and their local laws and customs. They will learn basic reservation and booking procedures for airline, hotel, car, cruise, rail and bus. The students receive training in both major airline reservation systems: APOLLO BY GEMINI (GALILEO) AND SABRE. Students will have an opportunity to further develop practical skills and enrich their industry knowledge by participating in 7 weeks of field placement during their fourth and final semester. With the assistance of a devoted Field Placement Coordinator, students can complete placements in various industry areas to suit their interests. Completion of the program prepares students to write the Knowledge Exam that is part of the certification requirements to become a Certified Travel Counsellor from CITC. The students are encouraged to become members of the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (CITC). This association provides students with the opportunity to participate in seminars and conferences. For more information on becoming a Certified Travel Counsellor, contact CITC at www.citc.ca.

    Educational Paths

    Co-op or Field Placement A mandatory field placement is available to Tourism students over seven weeks of the program’s fourth and final semester.

    Employment Opportunities

    Graduates from the program begin their career in the tourism industry in one of many interesting occupations with: – tour operators – travel agencies – airlines – hotels and resorts – car rental companies – cruise and yacht companies

Hanson College, formerly Hanson International Academy was established in April 2013 and offers exemplary service and education to international students wishing to study high-calibre, practical, college programs in a metropolitan hub in Canada. In August 2015, Hanson College was designated by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of British Columbia. This designation demonstrates the organization’s sincere commitment to educational excellence.

STARTING YOUR FUTURE

In 2015, Hanson College re-signed a curriculum licensing agreement with Cambrian College. Cambrian College, based out of Sudbury, is 1 of 24 colleges of applied arts and technology that comprise the Ontario public college system. Students studying Cambrian College programs at Hanson College get the chance to acquire an education that balances practical learning experiences with the knowledge and skill development to prepare them for the workforce.
