Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • The Personal Support Worker program was developed as part of the Ontario Government’s initiative to reform community support programs and services. It is a single training program that consolidates and replaces the previous Health Care Aide, and Home Support Worker Levels II and III training programs. Personal Support Workers provide services to people in hospitals, long-term care facilities, group homes, and to Clients who are house bound in the community. At Edge Academy, the Personal Support Worker program provides high quality training and a solid educational base for workers who provide long-term care and support services in both institutional and community settings. Our Personal Support Worker Program offers you a wealth of knowledge and experience so that you are able to meet the demands of an ever changing clientele and community. Further expansion of the PSW certificate can lead to other health care positions such as the Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse diplomas.

    Our PSW Program includes:

     
    • Flexibility to work around your schedule.
    • 700 hour enhanced program to prepare you to work as a PSW in all venues.
    • The ability to complete the program either Full Time or Part Time.
    • One on one caring instruction to guide our students in the development of a compassionate approach and demonstrate sensitivity and respect for those in their care.
    • Knowledge of the body systems so the student is better able to anticipate the physical needs of their clients.
    • 12 hour, 7 day-a-week support for your learning.
    • Quality instructors who bring years of experience and knowledge to the classroom.

  • Do you have previous training or work experience in a medical or nursing program? If so, you are eligible for our Prior Learning Assessment Program. To enrol in this program, an assessment is conducted in order to determine the portions of the Personal Support Worker Program that you will need to complete. Qualifying would result in less time involvement to complete the program, and would lower your tuition fees. The Prior Learning Assessment Program can be completed part time and is set up to be flexible and work around your schedule so that you can continue to work. Personal experience is taken into account on an individual basis. Documentation must be provided for consideration and must be verified.

Edge Academy

Edge Academy™ is a Registered Private Career College (under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005), that has been providing both Individuals and Organizations with customized Personal Support Worker (P.S.W.) training solutions since 1999. We currently offer the Full Personal Support Worker Program, which includes Prior Learning Assessment, to both individuals and organizations through Full time and Part time courses. All of our programs are affordable and are taught in small classes. Classes use a variety of instructional methods and tools which include traditional lectures, skills labs, computer-based Power Point® slides and videos / multimedia to guide students through their learning modules.
*All student funding, whether made available privately or through various government branches, is only approved to those who qualify, by the original source of funding. There are many criteria that each candidate must meet to be approved. Schools can only inform you of what may be available.
