Culinary Arts Programs

  • Our Food Service Worker program teaches students skills and abilities required to apply government regulations of food safety, injury, hazard prevention to promote a healthy dietary environment. Customer service, safe food-handling, nutrition, and food and beverage service are taught in this certificate program. Graduates from this program will have the abilities to serve a long-term care facility, and food service setting. Our program is mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care.

     

    ​Admission Requirements

    ​

    • An Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent or

    • Students are 18 years of age or older and pass qualifying test that has been approved by the Superintendent, or

    • Meet other academic qualifications or minimum age requirements established as a condition of the Superintendent’s approval of the program and

    • Have met all additional admission requirements established by the private career college for the program

    Practicum Requirements (120 Hours)

    ​

    • Fitness to complete the clinical placement

    • Immunization status must be update. Students must be free of communicable diseases, Hepatitis B is required;

    • Police check of Criminal Record must be produced within 30 days of starting school. Individuals who have criminal record are  not able to participate in the clinical placement and therefore will not graduate the program

    • Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR prior to starting the Clinical Placement

    Graduation Requirements

    ​

    • Achieve a minimum cumulative average of 70%

    • Achieve a minimum pass mark for each individual module of 70%

    • Successfully complete all clinical placement requirements

    • First Aide/CPR Certificates

    • Food Handler Certificates

    • WHIMIS Certificates

    • Smartserve Certificates

Education, Teaching Programs

  • The Early Childcare Assistant Program was developed to equip childcare workers with valuable knowledge, skills and experience for employment as Assistants in day care or early learning centres. It was designed to give students an overview of the responsibilities of an early childhood assistant and opportunities to perform those responsibilities. In addition to covering early childhood development, program planning, communication and other vital topics in childcare, the program also includes the role of computers in a childcare setting and how to use this tool to enhance the development in children. Early Childcare Assistant is designed to prepare students to a variety of childcare careers.     • Fluency in English, demonstrated skill in written and oral communication and comprehension sufficient to meet the demands of the program as assessed by personal interview and student questionnaire or literacy examination

    • Fitness to complete the clinical placement. Immunization status must be up to date. Students must free of communicable disease. Hepatitis B Immunization is required

Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • Personal Support Worker (psw)
    The Personal Support Worker Program was developed as part of the Ontario government’s plan to reform long-term care and support services which are to people in long-term care facilities or living at home in the community. It is a single training program that replaces and consolidates Health Care Aide and Home Support training. This program standardizes training and provides a solid educational base for workers who provide long-term care and support services both institutional and community settings
    Personal Support Workers assist with the tasks of daily living. Services are provided in nursing homes, retirement homes, hospice care, hospitals, homes and apartments in the community, congregate house settings and day programs. Personal Support Workers must develop not only for the comfort, safety, and well being of their clients/residents but also demonstrate sensitivity and respect for those in their care. The attitude, abilities and approach of the worker are critical to the well-being and health people they support.

    • Pass the three skills performance demonstrations

    • Achieve satisfactory rating in each of the required abilities listed in the PSW skills passbook

    • Have fulfilled all the practicum (clinical placement) hour requirements

    • Pass the PSW Final Standardized Examination administered by the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC)

Human & Social Services, CSW Programs

  • Developmental Services Worker (DSW) administers and implements a variety of assistance programs and community services, and assists clients to deal with personal and social problems. They are employed by social service and government agencies, mental health agencies, group homes, shelters, substance abuse centres, school boards, correctional facilities and other establishments.

*All student funding, whether made available privately or through various government branches, is only approved to those who qualify, by the original source of funding. There are many criteria that each candidate must meet to be approved. Schools can only inform you of what may be available.
