Program Description
This program is designed to help students to assist those with developmental, learning and /or physical disabilities or mental disorders. The programs are highly educative, incorporating the latest skills and knowledge that will allow the students to excel professionally from our developmental service worker college in Toronto.
In this program, students learn Interpersonal Communication, Health Promotion, Abnormal psychology, Developmental Psychology, Sociology, Team Work, Counselling techniques, Behavioural Management, Pharmacology and Human Sexuality. Students interested in pursuing a career as a Developmental Service Worker should be patient, understanding and have the ability to work under psychologically difficult circumstances. The core value of this program guides the Developmental Service Worker’s behavior in terms of his/her ethical responsibilities to the individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, colleagues and to his/her own professional competence at our college with job placement opportunities.
Career Opportunities
The Developmental Service Worker diploma program is designed for people interested in working with children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities. After completion, Developmental Service Worker program graduates work in variety of positions such as Educational Assistant, Employment Support, Family Support and Integration Facilitator. At the end of this program, participants will have the skills and abilities to pursue entry-level positions in such areas as: Mental Health Worker, Early Child Educator, Child Welfare Worker, Halfway House Worker, Community Liaison Worker, Instructor for Developmentally delayed and Life Skills Coach.
