  • This program provides a comprehensive medical laboratory education. Graduates of the program are eligible to write the Medical Laboratory Professionals Association of Ontario certification examination for Medical Laboratory Technicians to become a certified MLPAO member.   • This general workshop will be of interest to laboratory assistants, phlebotomists, nurses and other health care proffesionals involved in blood specimen collection. Students will develop skills in performing phlebotomy procedures in various healthcare settings.     HIGHLIGHTED CLINICAL SKILLS

    •  To learn the necessary skills in administering IM injections, using sterile technique and the five rights of medication administration  Apply knowledge of proper land marking & the medications administered  To be familiar with the M.A.R.S. (Medication Administration Record) & drug calculations
  • The course is presented in a workshop format. Participants will learn step-by-step procedure to perfom a 12-lead ECG. The principles and techniques of Holter monitoring will be cobvered in a hand-on laboratory sesion.This workshop would be of benefit to nurses working in critical care areas such as intensive care and emergency departments.   • The goal of the Community Service Worker program is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire theoretical concepts and training in group work, counseling, community engagement, organizing and development. Graduates of the Community Service Worker program have been helping to contribute the strength and growth of communities across Toronto. Students who value human rights will develop their knowledge and skills for work with individuals, families and community service organizations.

    The program encourages analysis, creativity and active participation in all modules. In addition to classes students will be able to volunteer and gain valuable field experience within community organizations. Students are required to have a police reference check completed before volunteering in the field. Students are responsible for ensuring that the police reference check covers appropriateness for volunteering and being employed in the field, working with vulnerable person(s).
