    Early Childhood Education Courses

    Learn how to engage children in many different social and creative activities to facilitate young people’s intellectual and social development through the program at CDI College. Industry professionals cover classroom management, curriculum planning, and daycare administration as well in your ECE courses.

    ECE Training

    With a focus on the individual’s social and educational needs in an inclusive environment, students are prepared to change people’s lives through caring, education, and promotion of healthful, purposeful lives.

    Through theory and practice, case studies, specialized training, and work experience practice, graduates are well-prepared and equipped to enter the field of special education.

Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • The Pharmacy Assistant diploma program at CDI College offers job-ready training in the office, clerical, and medical skills to provide the essential support required by pharmacists.

    BC Pharmacy Assistant Program

    In the program, you'll learn about pharmacology, pharmaceutical calculations, medical terminology, communications, pharmacy industry software and computer programs, inventory, billing and administration, as well as customer service skills.

    After completing your courses - which includes training in first aid, CPR-C and WHMIS - you'll embark on a three-week practicum placement to gain work experience.

    Upon graduation, you'll receive a Pharmacy Assistant diploma and be prepared to start working as a key support to pharmacists and others in the pharmacy field.

  • Ready to become a hero? CDI College’s Practical Nursing program is a British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)-recognized program designed to prepare you for a professional career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

    BC Practical Nursing Courses

    The practical nursing courses at CDI College provide you with opportunities to develop, integrate, and demonstrate knowledge, skills, and judgement. Upon graduation, you’ll have the skills to efficiently deliver patient-centred, culturally sensitive care to individuals, families, and groups of all ages.

     

    During the program, you will participate in four work experience opportunities in a range of healthcare settings so you’re prepared to hit the ground running in your new career. You’ll also take part in a final preceptorship at the end of the program.

     

    Licensed Practical Nurse

    Practical nursing is the second largest nursing group in Canada, after Registered Nurses (RNs). LPNs treat health conditions, promote health, prevent illness and assist patients to achieve optimal levels of health and wellness. They work with a team of doctors and RNs to deliver the best possible care to patients in hospitals, long-term care facilities, doctor's offices, schools, and other healthcare settings.

     

    After completing every course in the Practical Nursing program, you’ll be eligible to apply to become an LPN through BCCNP.

    Admissions Requirements

     

    Students must meet all of the pre-requisites listed below, meet their financial obligations with the college, and acknowledge their understanding of the college’s policies and procedures provided in the student handbook, prior to starting classes.

    • High school graduation or equivalent.
    • Criminal record check (in accordance with the Criminal Records Review Act).
    • Immunization report (form provided by the College) as required by clinical partner sites and recommended by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control (2009): diphtheria and tetanus, polio, hepatitis B, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), varicella, and influenza. Students who fail to comply with immunization requirements may be prohibited from attending practice education experiences by the health authority and clinical partner site policy.
    • Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
    • English 12 with a grade of C+ or Technical Communications 12 with a grade of B+.
    • Math 11 Principles with a grade of C (current B.C. curriculum) or Math 11 Foundations with a grade of C (commencing 2012).
    • Biology 12 (Human Biology) with a grade of C.
    • Human Anatomy and Physiology for Practical Nurses with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent must be completed by the start of specified courses.

     

    English as an Additional Language

     

    Applicants with English as an additional language must meet the language requirements set by the CLPNBC (2011), and be successful in one of the following:

     

    International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – Academic Version with minimum scores of:

     

    • Overall band score: 7.0
    • Speaking: 7.0
    • Listening: 7.5 o Reading: 6.5
    • Writing: 7.0

     

    Canadian English Language Benchmarks Assessment for Nurses (CELBAN) with minimum scores of:

     

    • Speaking: 8
    • Listening: 10
    • Reading: 8
    • Writing: 7

    • Where applicable, submission of an international credential evaluation service report (e.g. ICES).
    • Successful interview with the PN program coordinator.
    • Signing of the PN Statement of Understanding.

     

    Additional Requirement:

     

    • CPR Level ‘C’ training is a requirement of this program and will be provided during the first semester.

Veterinary, Animal Services Programs

  • The Veterinary Health Care Assistant program fully prepares the successful student to provide a large number of clinical and administrative services in a range of animal care facilities. In this health care field, the animal is the patient and the animal’s owner is the client.

    The multi-faceted work of the veterinary assistant spans the duties of the animal health technician and the veterinary office assistant. The veterinary assistant develops a set of skills that is useful to both clinical expertise and administrative skills in the veterinary practice.

    The pet care field is a growing industry where an increasing number of people choose pets as a part of their household.  An aging population adopt pets as companions, and animals can require as much care as their owners.

RICHMOND Campus

Our Richmond campus is located in the fourth largest city in the province. Built on islands in the delta of the mighty Fraser River, Richmond offers all of the amenities found in major urban centers: excellent shopping, superb entertainment facilities, accessible transit, and world-class dining.

Richmond is also home to many vibrant parks, gardens, and walking trails set amongst its cityscape. The Richmond Oval, which was home to the 2010 Winter Olympics speed skating events, can be found just minutes away from the CDI College's Richmond campus.

Students will find that the Richmond campus is located close to the best that the city has to offer. After classes, students will be able to browse the shops at nearby Lansdowne Centre or grab a bite to eat at many nearby restaurants. In addition, Richmond is home to a number of recreation facilities and several sports teams and clubs ranging from hockey and speed skating to swimming and rowing.
