Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • Accounting and payroll administrators are valuable members of many businesses. CDI College's Accounting and Payroll Administrator program prepares you to excel in this in-demand career.

    The program places an emphasis on providing a strong foundation of general accounting principles, along with the specific, industry-standard software you will use in the field.

    You will also explore courses in advanced accounting and business studies. You will get up-to-date training on the latest versions of today's accounting software and general office programs like Excel, MS Word and Outlook.

    You will also complete the requirements for the National Payroll Institute payroll certification programs, which provide a foundation of payroll techniques and principles.

  • In the Business and Digital Marketing Management diploma program, you will gain a solid understanding of the business skills required for working in entry-level business management positions or for operating your own business. The 21st century digital, mobile, and social media landscape has transformed how businesses market, promote, and sell their products and services, and manage their client relations.

    The program will explore social media and digital marketing, selling, and analytical practices that have evolved from the exponential growth of digital media communication while also exploring the various social media platforms and tools and how these tools can be incorporated by marketers and managers to promote and expand their business and connect with their customers.

    This program will provide graduates with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to plan, analyze and execute e-media marketing campaigns as part of a business based digital marketing and management strategy. Students will learn the skills and business analytics necessary to effectively use advanced digital tools and techniques that are now an essential component of effective digital marketing strategies.

  • Ready for a rewarding career in the world of business? Thanks to CDI College's Human Resource and Payroll Coordinator program, you can gain the in-demand skills needed to start a new career in human resources and payroll in under one year. In this program, delivered online and on campus, you will learn fundamental human resources topics including employment law, organizational behaviour, training, compensation, and more.

    You will also receive hands-on training in Sage 50 software, bookkeeping, and current accounting and payroll practices. Also, as part of the program, you will complete two practicum placements that will give you valuable real-world experience. Upon graduation, you will be ready to work as a human resources and payroll professional.

  • CDI College's Medical Office Administration diploma program is meant for students with an interest in science, medicine, and working with the public. Graduates of this program are employed in a variety of work environments including hospitals, private medical practices, and clinics.

    The program covers fundamental office procedures and technology such as information processing, business procedures, keyboarding, and Microsoft Word and Excel programs. It also teaches medical office-specific skills like human anatomy, medical terminology, and medical machine transcription. Students are able to put these skills into practice through a mandatory practicum in a real-world medical office.

    Students continue to be supported after graduation through our Career and Employment Services department, which assists with job search and interviewing skills, employer expectations, and resume preparation.

Human & Social Services, CSW Programs

  • Working with at-risk youth is a challenging, but rewarding career path which involves collaborating with other mental health and community service workers to help society's most vulnerable young people thrive. If you're looking to make a difference in the lives of youth, CDI College's Child and Youth Services Worker diploma program is for you.

    Hands-on Services Worker Training

    Child and Youth Services Workers are indispensable in Alberta's healthcare system. In a given day, you will be working under the supervision of counsellors, dealing with many different issues affecting children and youth.

    The Child and Youth Services worker program gives you hands-on, job-ready training helping at-risk youth with family concerns, legal issues, access and success in education, physical and mental health, and addictions.

    Top Community Worker and Child and Youth Services Training

    Split into two parts, the Child and Youth Services Worker program first focuses on the community services worker part of your diploma, with courses in social service work, professional communication, working with families, diversity and social justice, as well as the fundamentals of poverty, addiction, and mental health.

    The second part of the program focuses on child and youth services, and includes training in child development, including trauma, grief and loss, advocacy and empowerment of youth, the youth and social welfare systems in Canada, interviewing techniques, youth justice issues, and youth diversity.

    Additionally, you'll take part in a 100-hour practicum placement, where you'll get the opportunity to test your skills in the field under the supervision of experienced child and youth services workers.

Technology, Networking Programs

  • The Computer Support Technician program in Alberta is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in the information technology industry. The program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to service computer systems and to support the users of these systems.

     
    The Computer Support Technician program covers a number of topics including hardware installation and  configuration, basic networking, Windows operating systems, MS Office support, and help desk techniques.
     
    Students will study the theory of computer systems hardware and software components and the develop practical skills through hands-on training. In addition, students will learn how help desk and troubleshooting operations are run within an organization.
  • The increased reliance on computer systems, the internet, connected technologies and smart devices has made cybersecurity a critical concern for organizations and individuals alike. Keeping devices, data and information secure and protected from risks and vulnerabilities is a critical area of activity for all organizations.

    This has led to an ever-growing increase in demand for individuals possessing the skills to assess, plan and implement a cybersecurity defense strategy. The 76-week Cybersecurity Specialist program can give you the training you need to pursue a career in helping to secure networked computer systems and their users.

    Your courses will cover everything you need to know about managing networks and computers, cybersecurity techniques, digital forensics, and more. You'll also get prepared to write exams for valuable industry certifications, including: Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+, Net+, Security+, CySA+, PenTest+; Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA); and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).

    Upon graduation, you'll be ready to use your cyber security skills working for organizations of all sizes.

  • The Network Systems Administrator program focuses on preparing students to manage and maintain computers and network installations. Students will develop technical skills in network installation, maintenance, and management, as well as implementation and operation of computer services.

    In addition to developing a solid foundation in Information Technology skills, you will participate in a work placement program. The program also prepares students to write certification exams for Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+, Net+, Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP).

    Graduates of the program will leave with the skills to plan, implement, administer, and maintain a computer network and foster computer user support skills required to meet employers' needs in these areas.

  • Web And Mobile Applications Development

    CDI College's Web and Mobile Application Development diploma program has the focused, relevant training you need to launch a new career in app development.

    As your skills grow and you improve your grasp on the language-specific syntax and coding requirements to translate logical program design, you'll be able to create fully-functional applications for computers, the web, or mobile devices.

Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • CDI College's Dental Assisting diploma program prepares students to compete for great jobs in the dental industry. The program covers all elements of dental care, pharmacology, oral pathology, and dental radiography. Students learn how to prepare patients for treatment, assist dentists during treatment, process radiographs, perform infection control procedures, maintain patient records, and handle other general administrative duties. Students study environmental health and safety and oral facial science, along with other core dentistry subjects.

    CDI College's Dental Assisting program is the only private Dental Assisting program in BC that is accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). The program provides both comprehensive and intensive education and training leading to a career as a Certified Dental Assistant. Students are exposed to activities that utilize the advances in the practice of dentistry. Graduates of this program are eligible to become a candidate for the National Dental Assisting Board Examination (NDAEB), which is a mandatory component for licensure and registration with the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia. Historically, graduates of the Dental Assisting Program received between 97%-100% passing rate in the NDAEB since its implementation in 2007.

    Note: The Burnaby, Surrey, and Victoria campuses have received full accreditation.

  • The Pharmacy Assistant diploma program at CDI College offers job-ready training in the office, clerical, and medical skills to provide the essential support required by pharmacists.

    BC Pharmacy Assistant Program

    In the program, you'll learn about pharmacology, pharmaceutical calculations, medical terminology, communications, pharmacy industry software and computer programs, inventory, billing and administration, as well as customer service skills.

    After completing your courses - which includes training in first aid, CPR-C and WHMIS - you'll embark on a three-week practicum placement to gain work experience.

    Upon graduation, you'll receive a Pharmacy Assistant diploma and be prepared to start working as a key support to pharmacists and others in the pharmacy field.

Legal, Policing Programs

  • Gain the skills for an exciting career helping newcomers start their lives in Canada. CDI College's Immigration Assistant diploma program will provide you with the practical skills and legal knowledge to excel. In under a year of training, you will learn everything you need to know to provide legal administrative support within immigration law firms and immigration consulting practices. Your industry-experienced instructors will ensure you have a solid understanding of legal office procedures, legal research, Canadian immigration law and processes, and more.
