Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • Owing to increasingly powerful desktop computers and office software, businesses are relying on a few key people to perform the multitude of administrative duties that previously required many clerical staff. These key administrators are highly organized and well trained in leading edge office automation technology.

    The aim of the Business Administrative Professional diploma program is to provide you with a combination of office administration skills and technology. This combination includes general office administration, management and the operational skills needed to take charge as a cutting edge Business Administrative Professional.

  • CDI College's Medical Office Administration diploma program is meant for students with an interest in science, medicine, and working with the public. Graduates of this program are employed in a variety of work environments including hospitals, private medical practices, and clinics.

    The program covers fundamental office procedures and technology such as information processing, business procedures, keyboarding, and Microsoft Word and Excel programs. It also teaches medical office-specific skills like human anatomy, medical terminology, and medical machine transcription. Students are able to put these skills into practice through a mandatory practicum in a real-world medical office.

    Students continue to be supported after graduation through our Career and Employment Services department, which assists with job search and interviewing skills, employer expectations, and resume preparation.

    CDI College's Social Media Specialist certificate program prepares you to plan, create, and manage social media content for businesses of every size. Offered at the Calgary North campus and fully online in Alberta, the program builds hands-on skills across today's major platforms while teaching you how to turn engagement into measurable business results.

  • CDI College's Online Marketing & Social Media diploma program will provide you with focused, relevant, current training in the areas of digital marketing and social media marketing. Areas covered in the program include digital marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), effective business writing, content creation and outreach, and a thorough education in social media monitoring and aggregation tools. Additionally, you will participate in a practicum, where you will get the chance to test your new skills in the workplace before graduation.

  • The Massage Therapy 2400 hr program fully prepares program graduates to provide a number of therapeutic massage services to a range of clients who present many different needs. The work of a massage therapist is similar to chiropractors and physical therapists; however, instead of manipulating bones or using exercises for treatment, a massage therapist focuses on manipulating muscles and soft tissues. This focused, 96-week diploma program trains students in all the important areas massage therapists need to be successful: anatomy, physiology, pathology, massage theory, principles and techniques of treatment, therapeutic exercise, joint mobilization, orthopedic treatment, the peripheral nervous system, arthrology, hydrotherapy, and more. Students also learn about business practices, the laws and regulations around the massage profession, nutrition, medications, and clinical case studies. Throughout the program, students take part in externships in the community, growing their skills in client relations and massage, as well as working in the student massage clinic on campus.
  • CDI College's Dental Assisting diploma program prepares students to compete for great jobs in the dental industry. The program covers all elements of dental care, pharmacology, oral pathology, and dental radiography. Students learn how to prepare patients for treatment, assist dentists during treatment, process radiographs, perform infection control procedures, maintain patient records, and handle other general administrative duties. Students study environmental health and safety and oral facial science, along with other core dentistry subjects.

    CDI College's Dental Assisting program is the only private Dental Assisting program in BC that is accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). The program provides both comprehensive and intensive education and training leading to a career as a Certified Dental Assistant. Students are exposed to activities that utilize the advances in the practice of dentistry. Graduates of this program are eligible to become a candidate for the National Dental Assisting Board Examination (NDAEB), which is a mandatory component for licensure and registration with the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia. Historically, graduates of the Dental Assisting Program received between 97%-100% passing rate in the NDAEB since its implementation in 2007.

    Note: The Burnaby, Surrey, and Victoria campuses have received full accreditation.

    Admission Requirements
    • High school graduation or equivalent*, or mature student** status.
    • Criminal record check (in accordance with the Criminal Records Review Act).
    • Immunization report (form provided by college)

    **19 years of age upon starting classes and Pass the college's admissions test

    This program has been approved by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training.

  • CDI College’s Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant (Occupational Therapist Assistant - Physiotherapist Assistant) diploma program gives graduates the basic knowledge, skills, values and behaviours necessary for employment in community and private agencies, hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centres. Physiotherapist assistants and occupational therapist assistants have an important role, working in partnership with and under the supervision of physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Courses in the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program focus on understanding human development and the human body. Students will study body mechanics and systems, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, and therapeutic exercise. Client care is also a strong focus; record management and client communications are invaluable skills for students to learn. In addition to classroom study, students are required to complete clinical placements in the community. Students are given an opportunity to complete their practicum in whichever specialty field they choose.

    CDI College's Cybersecurity Specialist program can give you the training you need to pursue a career in helping to secure networked computer systems and their users. Your courses will cover everything you need to know about managing networks and computers, cybersecurity techniques, digital forensics, and more. You will also get prepared to write exams for valuable industry certifications, including Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+, Net+, Security+, CySA+, PenTest+; Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA); and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE). Upon graduation, you will be ready to use your cyber security skills working for organizations of all sizes.

  • The Computer Support Technician program in Alberta is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in the information technology industry. The program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to service computer systems and to support the users of these systems.

     
    The Computer Support Technician program covers a number of topics including hardware installation and  configuration, basic networking, Windows operating systems, MS Office support, and help desk techniques.
     
    Students will study the theory of computer systems hardware and software components and the develop practical skills through hands-on training. In addition, students will learn how help desk and troubleshooting operations are run within an organization.

  • In CDI College's Web and Mobile Applications Development diploma program, you will gain a solid understanding of application development for computer, web and mobile environments. You will learn language-independent programming concepts and techniques, including program flow, programming constructs of sequence, iteration, selection and decision-making in both traditional programming and object-oriented methodologies. The program then explores several current programming languages and technologies, including but not limited to C#, Java, ASP.net, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP/MySQL, Python, Android and Swift, allowing you to master the language-specific syntax and coding requirements to translate logical program design into fully functional computer, web or mobile applications. The program includes a six-week, 180-hour practicum placement in a real application development workplace. Upon completing this program, you will be able to develop fully functional computer, Web and mobile applications using a variety of development platforms and techniques.

Education, Teaching Programs

  • CDI College's Education Assistant program is a perfect fit if you are interested in helping children and youth who require extra support to achieve their full potential. In the program, you will learn how to assist teachers in early childhood settings or elementary and secondary schools or help children and youth in the community. With a focus on the individual’s social and educational needs in an inclusive environment, you will be prepared to change people’s lives through caring, education, and promotion of healthful, purposeful lives. Through theory and practice, case studies, specialized training, and work experience practice, you will be well-prepared and equipped to enter the field of special education upon graduation. With two practicum placements totaling 240 hours, you will be prepared to start work immediately in early childhood education, elementary, and secondary schools, in addition to helping in community care and youth centres, recreation programs, community support, group homes, and family service centres.

Human & Social Services, CSW Programs

  • If you are looking to start a new career that makes a difference, CDI College's Child and Youth Services Worker program is a great place to start. In the program, you will pick up the skills you need to enter the rewarding social services field, with training in areas focused on helping at-risk youth, including psychology, poverty, and addictions. Upon graduation, you can specialize in helping youth through issues of family troubles, domestic violence, and mental health. Upon graduation, you can find employment in a number of areas including drug and alcohol treatment facilities, correctional facilities, group homes, aboriginal agencies and other community service facilities.
