Completing the Financial and Payroll Administration (FPA) program at CBSC will provide you with the necessary skills to begin a meaningful career in just 40 weeks. Our small class sizes and outstanding support services emphasize the individual student’s success, both in school and upon entering the workforce. Our experienced program instructors will prepare you to use specialized accounting programs such as Quickbooks, as well as essential office programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.     • Preparing students to use professional accounting software such as Quickbooks Pro and Simply Accounting, including tracking accounts receivable and payable, creating detailed financial reports, and recording assets and liabilities.
    • Administrative skills needed for success in the workplace, such as workplace communications and customer service skills, organizing financial and personal information, billing and insurance claims, and efficient keyboarding practices
    • Mastering Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    • Compliance with current payroll legislation and administration practices regarding taxation and taxable benefits, preparing accurate earnings statements and records of employment, and a thorough understanding of Canadian employment standards

    Medical or Dental Administrators help to manage the office environment by performing a number of duties. This can include anything from scheduling and confirming appointments, book-keeping, tracking patient information, processing insurance forms or OHIP billing, handling office correspondence, managing computer records and so much more. They also perform other essential duties, such as getting a patient’s medical history and preparing patients for laboratory tests.

Education, Teaching Programs

  • Our Early Childcare Assistant Program is designed to prepare our students for a rewarding career working with young children. You will be able to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. The Early Childcare Assistant (ECA) program prepares you to work under the guidance of an ECE Teacher to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. Our program applies research-based theory to practical experiences that encourages young children’s optimal development and growth.

    Our courses focus on

    • Best practices for working with children and their families in early childhood.
    • The development of the Whole Child (the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of the child)
    • The roles and responsibilities of the early childhood professional.
    • The importance of play in a child’s development and learning.
    • Curriculum design and implementation for infant, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children.
    Your studies will blend the theory you learn about childhood development with an opportunity  for hands–on application of those principles during your field placements. During your practicum you will apply child development theories while programming for infant, toddler, preschool and school–aged children. As part of the program, you’ll also study developmental theory and practice for children with special needs, as well as an overview of relevant communications theory and technology. Our program instructor has an excellent teaching record with more than ten years in the Early Childhood Education field, including supervisory experience, and a member of the City of Toronto’s Childcare Advisory Committee as well as the National Association of Career Colleges Early Childcare Programs Advisory Committee.

    Career Path

    Governments are now beginning to realize the long-term benefits of investing in early childhood education.  Successful graduates have a wide range of career options open to them in the field of early childhood education, including working in childcare, full-day learning, or as an early years resource worker, home childcare provider, educational assistant, before- and after-school care provider, or camp counsellor/director. With experience, graduates of this program can progress to senior positions within the childcare field.

    Employment Outlook

    The ongoing Ontario economic forecast continues to have more families requiring dual income, so the call for more licensed childcare is stronger in Ontario than it has been in the past. Also, the move towards ECE’s in Full-Day Kindergarten classrooms has lead to an increase in the numbers of positions available. The outlook for Early Childcare Assistants is expected to be strong in Ontario, especially in the Toronto region. Demand is growing for childcare workers, and qualified individuals who speak multiple languages and/or have experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds may have even better prospects. According to Ontario’s labour market profile for this field, 55-60% of graduates found a full-time job related to their field within the first month of graduation.

Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • Canada’s population is aging, and with this trend comes a steady demand for Personal Support Workers to provide care for people in need. In 2014 the Ontario government responded to this need by legislating increased wages for PSW throughout the province. Completing the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program at Canadian Business Skills College will give you the skills you need for a career in this in-demand health care field in just 32 weeks including hands-on experience in a clinical practicum placement.     Career Path

    Personal Support Workers are an integral part of Canada’s health system, given the growing numbers of aging and elderly Canadians who are living longer, more independent lives. The role of a PSW is highly individualized, depending on the setting and the type or level of support required. Personal Support Workers can find jobs caring for individuals in hospitals, long-term care homes, group homes, retirement homes, and supportive living environments as well as the client’s own home.

    The Office Administration – Legal program provides you with the skills and advanced training necessary to qualify for an administrative support position in the legal field. Among the specialized areas covered are preparation of legal documents using word processing, legal terminology and procedures in law firms or corporate legal departments. You will also concentrate on how to use specialized legal office software with emphasis on computer-generated document production and word processing.
