Human & Social Services, CSW Programs

  • About the Program

    The Community Service Worker diploma program prepares you to administer social assistance programs and community services while helping clients address personal and social problems. In 32 weeks, you'll gain comprehensive knowledge, computer skills, and complete a 75-hour clinical placement at an approved facility to become permanently employable in social service settings across BC.

    What You'll Learn

    • CSW clinical knowledge - psychology fundamentals, sociology, mental health and addictions, life-span development, criminology, at-risk populations, case management, counselling, ethics, government and social services
    • Business communication skills - business communication and report writing, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), keyboarding, professional development, job search strategies
    • Healthcare certifications - Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer (Level C) CPR certification included in program
    • 75-hour clinical placement - hands-on preceptorship at approved CSW facility, available at 7 BC locations including Kamloops, Kelowna, Nanaimo, North Vancouver, Surrey, Vancouver, Victoria

Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • Admission Requirements

      • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; OR
      • 18 years of age or older with successful completion of the Mature Student Admission Test, Wonderlic SLE with a minimum score of 18; AND
      • Completion of Wonderlic BST with a minimum score of 18; AND
      • Adequate level of physical health to be able to fulfill job requirements; AND
      • Good command of the English language – both written and verbal
      • Completion of standard registration form

    Program Highlights

    With the aging population, the tremendous advancements in technology, and our demand for the best quality of life, the healthcare industry is facing a growing shortage of well-trained personnel. Throughout the North American healthcare industry, there is an acute need to increase the size of the workforce and raise the skill level of that workforce. This program is designed to provide employment-ready and comprehensively trained graduates. Successful graduates will earn the Certified Medical Assisting Professional (CMAP) designation in addition to their diploma. These graduates are fully qualified to work in a hands-on administrative and clinical support capacity in the medical industry.

    The Business Accounting and Bookkeeping certificate program provides you with comprehensive computerized accounting and office skills to maintain complete sets of books, verify financial transaction procedures, and provide bookkeeping services. In 23 weeks, you'll master industry-standard accounting software and gain the necessary skills for accounting-related positions across Manitoba's public and private sectors.
