Creative Arts, Interactive, Sound Programs

  • Program Overview

The Certificate Program prepares students for the fast paced fashion industry.  It provides training in ready to wear.  Our emphasis in the first 8 months is to explore designing from the basic level, finding inspiration through historical studies, design principals and modern fashion trends.  We train students with industry standard techniques in Portfolio, Illustration, Pattern Making and Garment Construction to prepare them for every aspect of Fashion Design.  Our classes were developed to create a balance between the freedom for our students to create and learning technical discipline.  At the end of the first 8 months, students will put everything they have learned in business and marketing to the test when they participate in our annual fashion show, where students will display and sell their work.

    Requirements

Students must have their Grade 12 or equivalency or apply as a mature student.
  • Program Overview

After completing the Certificate of Fashion Design program students may enter the Diploma program which has a duration of 8-months.  During the Diploma program students are prepared to produce custom apparel for a select clientele as well as keep up with their broader target markets.  Through higher end techniques and specialty fabrics, students will encounter more advanced techniques in areas such as Knitwear, Tailoring, Bridal & Evening wear, as well as the art of Draping.  Advanced designing in Portfolio refines the student’s illustration techniques and develops a higher taste level when planning or editing a collection of designs.  Students will also continue to study history in different and more exciting ways than before and will also have a greater understanding of the effect history has had on fashion and how to predict what is coming next.  Diploma students work hard on their final collections for the Annual Fashion Show, focusing on putting together a show that stays true to their design style and market, but also impresses onlookers with greater impact.

    Requirements

Students must have successfully completed the Certificate of Fashion Design Program.
  • Program Overview

This new post-secondary program is exclusive to Saskatchewan’s Fashion Design School.  In consultation with former First Nations Students we have developed the only Canadian program which focuses solely on the diverse traditional clothing of First Nations people.  Join this 4-month program to learn how to construct traditional clothing as well as it’s history. In addition to developing sewing skills students will also par-take in many other valuable classes to guide them into a future as a designer entrepreneur.  After completing the First Nations Cultural Sewing Program, students can choose to further their Fashion and Design education through two different options; our 4-month Native Designing course, or our 8-month Certificate of Fashion Design Program.

    Requirements

Students must have their Grade 12 or equivalency or apply as a mature student.
  • Program Overview

After completing the First Nations Cultural Sewing program, Students can take an additional 4 months of Native Designing.  Students will learn how to sew and design basic modern garments using traditional influences in their work.  More than a sewing program, students will also learn how to alter and fit commercial patterns and sizing garments to sell.  Students will look at the basic functions of modern day apparel and how they can incorporate traditional design to wear as everyday clothing.

    Requirements

Must have completed one of the following courses: Certificate of Fashion Design, Diploma of Fashion Design, or have completed The First Nations Cultural Sewing Program.
