About the Program

The Network Administrator diploma program equips you to plan, install, and manage communications network services in information systems across BC's growing IT sector. In 67 weeks structured across two academic years, you'll master Windows Server administration, earn preparation for CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+), and develop network troubleshooting expertise to maintain infrastructure, evaluate hardware and software alternatives, monitor performance, and handle non-routine technical problems.

This comprehensive two-year program provides in-depth knowledge of evaluating communications hardware, software, and transmission service alternatives against changing business requirements. Academy of Learning provides financial aid guidance for qualified students and job placement assistance to help you succeed from enrollment through employment. You'll learn to maintain links with network suppliers, monitor network performance, provide systems support, localize and rectify network faults, handle complex user problems, and deliver service that complies with statutory standards and strategic plans—with specialized training in both Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012 administration.

  • Microsoft Server and desktop administration - Microsoft Windows 10 (MD-100) certification preparation, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Installing and Configuring, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Administering, and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Configuring Advanced Services for comprehensive enterprise environment management
  • CompTIA industry certifications and PC fundamentals - CompTIA A+ Certification (220-1001 and 220-1002), CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, plus Personal Computer Fundamentals for Technical Users, Internet Fundamentals, and keyboarding proficiency (minimum 25 WPM)
  • Business skills and practical applications - Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), Business Correspondence Level 1, Customer Service, Workplace Success/Intrapreneurship, Project Management Fundamentals Level 1, plus Practical Applications (1 unit) and thought patterns for a successful career
  • High standards and BC locations - 75% average required for graduation, comprehensive job search and résumé writing, available at 7 BC campus locations: Kamloops, Kelowna, Nanaimo, North Vancouver, Surrey, Vancouver Broadway Station, and Victoria Westshore
