About the Program

The PC Support Technician diploma program prepares you to deal with problems you may encounter when supporting personal computers in office environments. In 42 weeks, you'll gain in-depth knowledge of both computer hardware and software while preparing for the A+ certification exam—the industry-recognized credential that validates your technical expertise and opens doors to IT support careers.

This hands-on program provides comprehensive training in troubleshooting and assembling computers, advanced Windows proficiency, computer networking, and business software applications. Academy of Learning provides financial aid guidance for qualified students and job placement assistance to help you succeed from enrollment through employment. You'll develop the technical skills and customer service expertise needed to become an invaluable member of management teams across organizations with multiple computers—with customizable elective courses allowing you to tailor your training to your career goals and a clear pathway to advanced qualifications such as Microsoft Certified Engineer (MCSE).

Flexible Scheduling Options

Full-time students attend required hours per week at convenient times. Part-time students set their own schedules with minimum two training sessions weekly during day, evening, or weekend hours—perfect for balancing work and study in Winnipeg.

What You'll Learn

  • Hands-on hardware experience and A+ preparation - Computer troubleshooting techniques, assembling computers from components, diagnosing hardware problems, repairing and maintaining computer systems, PC troubleshooting courses, computer networking fundamentals, and preparing for A+ certification exam demonstrating industry-standard technical competency
  • Advanced software and operating systems proficiency - Advanced Windows proficiency, basic knowledge of two operating systems, intermediate proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications, plus basic graphics/presentation applications for diverse technical environments
  • Business skills and customer service - Customer service excellence for supporting end-users, workplace success/intrapreneurship or management fundamentals for coordinating technical support operations, keyboarding to 25 WPM, and office simulations including A+ drills
  • Customizable electives and Manitoba locations - Complete 2 elective credits from word processing, spreadsheets, graphics/presentations, computerized accounting, operating systems, or miscellaneous options to build specialized skills, plus comprehensive job search and résumé writing available at Winnipeg North and Winnipeg South campus locations
