Medical Office Assistant

On Campus

About the Program

CDI College's Medical Office Assistant program at the Winnipeg campus prepares you for fast-paced work in hospitals, clinics, and doctors' offices in as little as one year—with a practicum to give you real experience before you graduate.

What You'll Learn

  • Medical terminology, anatomy, and medical transcription alongside Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Manitoba medical billing using the Manitoba Fee Guide and diagnostic codes, including third-party insurance and medical-legal billing
  • Hands-on billing data entry with the Optimed Accuro system and electronic health record (EHR) tasks
  • Keyboarding, business English, first aid, and clinical office procedures, capped by your practicum placement

Career Opportunities

Roles: Medical Office Assistant, Medical Receptionist, Medical Billing Clerk in Winnipeg hospitals, clinics, and physician practices

Why it matters: Healthcare is one of Manitoba's largest and most stable employers, and every clinic needs staff who know provincial billing—training on Manitoba's actual fee guide and software puts you ahead of generically trained applicants.
