Business, Accounting, Marketing Programs

  • In today’s job market, you need practical and marketable skills. The Business Accounting Technician program offers a combination of general office administration skills, accounting skills, and technology with which to help prepare you for opportunities in administrative or financial positions. A very strong aptitude for math is required for this course.

    The aim of this program is to provide students with a combination of computer and office administration skills and a practical foundation in accounting and computerized accounting systems. Students are prepared to enter the employment market upon graduation after a practicum that gives them on-the job experience.

  • CDI College's Medical Office Administration diploma program is meant for students with an interest in science, medicine, and working with the public. Graduates of this program are employed in a variety of work environments including hospitals, private medical practices, and clinics.

    The program covers fundamental office procedures and technology such as information processing, business procedures, keyboarding, and Microsoft Word and Excel programs. It also teaches medical office-specific skills like human anatomy, medical terminology, and medical machine transcription. Students are able to put these skills into practice through a mandatory practicum in a real-world medical office.

    Students continue to be supported after graduation through our Career and Employment Services department, which assists with job search and interviewing skills, employer expectations, and resume preparation.

  • Ready for a rewarding career in the world of business? Thanks to CDI College's Human Resource and Payroll Coordinator program, you can gain the in-demand skills needed to start a new career in human resources and payroll in under one year. In this program, delivered online and on campus, you will learn fundamental human resources topics including employment law, organizational behaviour, training, compensation, and more.

    You will also receive hands-on training in Sage 50 software, bookkeeping, and current accounting and payroll practices. Also, as part of the program, you will complete two practicum placements that will give you valuable real-world experience. Upon graduation, you will be ready to work as a human resources and payroll professional.

  • In CDI College's Business and Digital Marketing Management diploma program, you will gain a solid understanding of the traditional business skills, legal concepts, and project management required for entry positions in business management or for the operation of one’s own independent businesses. The 21st-century digital, mobile and social media landscape has transformed how businesses market, promote and sell their products and services and manage their client relations. The program explores social media and digital marketing, as well as selling and analytical practices that have evolved from the exponential growth of digital media communication. The program also explores the various social media platforms and tools and how marketers and managers can incorporate them to promote and expand their businesses and connect with their customers. It will provide you with the knowledge and skills to plan, analyze and execute e-media marketing campaigns as part of a business-based digital marketing and management strategy. You will learn the skills and business analytics necessary to effectively use advanced digital tools and techniques that are now essential to effective digital marketing strategies. The program concludes with a five-week, 100-hour practicum, giving you the on-the-job experience you need to start working in entry-level marketing roles across multiple industries.

Keeping devices, data and information secure and protected from risks and vulnerabilities is a critical area of activity for all organizations. This has led to an ever-growing increase in demand for individuals possessing the skills to assess, plan and implement a cybersecurity defense strategy.

    CDI College's Cybersecurity Specialist program can give you the training you need to pursue a career in helping to secure networked computer systems and their users. Your courses will cover everything you need to know about managing networks and computers, cybersecurity techniques, digital forensics, and more. You will also get prepared to write exams for valuable industry certifications, including Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+, Net+, Security+, CySA+, PenTest+; Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA); and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE). Upon graduation, you will be ready to use your cyber security skills working for organizations of all sizes.

Healthcare, Wellness, Pharma Programs

  • CDI College's Dental Assisting diploma program prepares students to compete for great jobs in the dental industry. The program covers all elements of dental care, pharmacology, oral pathology, and dental radiography. Students learn how to prepare patients for treatment, assist dentists during treatment, process radiographs, perform infection control procedures, maintain patient records, and handle other general administrative duties. Students study environmental health and safety and oral facial science, along with other core dentistry subjects.

    CDI College's Dental Assisting program is the only private Dental Assisting program in BC that is accredited by the Commission of Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). The program provides both comprehensive and intensive education and training leading to a career as a Certified Dental Assistant. Students are exposed to activities that utilize the advances in the practice of dentistry. Graduates of this program are eligible to become a candidate for the National Dental Assisting Board Examination (NDAEB), which is a mandatory component for licensure and registration with the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia. Historically, graduates of the Dental Assisting Program received between 97%-100% passing rate in the NDAEB since its implementation in 2007.

    Note: The Burnaby, Surrey, and Victoria campuses have received full accreditation.

Human & Social Services, CSW Programs

  • The Addictions and Community Services Worker program is a diploma program comprised of on-campus lectures and labs, field trips, industry-related projects, and a work experience component that provides the student with the theory, hands-on experience, and applied learning opportunities.

    The program prepares the graduate for entry-level positions in community social services with particular attention to the specific needs of people affected with addiction.

    The program includes courses in the fundamentals related to addictions and community services, building relationships, life management, and finally, professional and workplace skills.

    Admission Requirements

    • High school graduation or equivalent*, or mature student** status.
    • Pass college’s admissions test.
    • Criminal record check (in accordance with the Criminal Records Review Act).
    • Immunization report (form provided by the College).
    • Complete ‘Student Declaration – Social Services Worker Programs’ form (provided by the College).

    *From an English-language teaching institution.
    **19 years of age upon starting classes, and Pass the college's English admissions test.

Centrally-located in the heart of Edmonton's downtown core, the Edmonton City Centre campus of CDI College is close to several other community colleges and the University of Alberta campus, making the area a great place to meet fellow students.

Nearby, students of the Edmonton City Centre campus will find the famous Whyte Avenue.

The scene of many city celebrations including the Silly Summer Parade on Canada Day and the annual Whyte Avenue Street Sale on July 9th, Whyte Ave always has something going on. Dotted with coffee shops and restaurants, Whyte Avenue is a great place to hang out with your classmates after class.
