    PROGRAM INFORMATION

    Accounting and Payroll Administration program gives the students hands-on Accounting Training that employers demand. The program will teach you to excel in computerized accounting programs such as QuickBooks, Sage50 and other industry standard software. Students will also learn the manual accounting fundamentals they need to fully understand the bookkeeping process.

    PROGRAM INFORMATION

    This Human Resources Administration program gives the students hands-on Human Resources Training that employers demand. The program will teach students to develop, implement and evaluate human resources and labour relations policies, programs and procedures and advise employers and employees on human resources matters. Human resources professionals are employed throughout the private and public sectors, or they may be self-employed.

    PROGRAM INFORMATION

    This program has been designed to provide students with all of the administrative and clinical knowledge and skills required for employment as a Medical Office Assistant.

    During the program students learn to understand and use medical language; perform office procedures, prepare medical records, reports, case histories, correspondence and machine dictation; schedule and confirm medical appointments; receive and communicate messages for doctors and patients; initiate and maintain confidential medical files and records; prepare financial statements and handle billing procedures including medical billing, insurance, and other claim forms; promote safety and work in a safe manner; order supplies and maintain inventory; plan and initiate procedural set ups including those required for patient preparation and maintenance for supplies and equipment.

    Strong focus is given to communication skills, Microsoft Office applications, accounting applications, the ability to multitask and prioritize, organizational and detail skills, professional telephone manner, confidentiality, interpersonal skills and being a team player.

    PROGRAM INFORMATION

    Heritage Community College’s Health Care Assistant program prepares students to be a part of a health-care team in a variety of different settings, providing a high level of frontline care to clients in need of assistance. This program focuses on developing the core skills needed to care for clients in the health care field. Topics include personal care, assisting with mobility and feeding needs, communication, assisting with medication delivery, and clinical skills. HCAs assist with promoting and maintaining the health, safety, independence, comfort, and well-being of their clients and their families. HCAs provide personal care assistance and services in a caring manner that recognizes and supports the unique care needs, abilities, and backgrounds of clients and their families. They work as members of a health care interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings with direction and supervision from regulated health care professionals. This program prepares students to meet these objectives.
