    The objective of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge of business concepts, as well as gain the necessary computerized accounting and office skills. This program provides graduates with the necessary skills to maintain complete sets of books, keep records of accounts, verify the procedures used for recording financial transactions, and provide personal bookkeeping services.

    Careers in computerized accounting are continuously in high demand. Excellent opportunities exist for skilled persons in a variety of accounting related positions, including the role of accounting bookkeeper, across the public and private sectors.

    • Full range of computer and office skills, including current software applications, keyboarding skills of 40 WPM, general office management, and accounting.

    Career Opportunities

    Medical Office Administrators work in doctors’ offices, hospitals, medical clinics, pharmaceutical companies, government health agencies, and a variety of other medical office settings. This program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to provide supervision in the payroll department. The student will become familiar with basic payroll practices and procedures, as well as the more complex aspects of payroll. This prepares the student to apply to the CPA for both Payroll Administrator and Payroll Supervisor certification. In addition to accounting and payroll expertise, students gain skills and experience in business correspondence, office procedures, management fundamentals, and performing a job search.

    This program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to work in the insurance industry in a variety of different capacities, and may include careers within a call centre environment. It prepares students to write the provincial licensing examination. In addition, the program introduces students to different practices and positions within the industry. Students also gain skills and experience in using the most commonly used insurance database and quoting software in Canada. The Academy of Learning is currently the only organization in Canada offering a program that incorporates license preparation training along with actual hands-on experience with insurance products.

Full time students must attend the required hours per week as per the course schedule and may do so at times convenient to them. Part time students may set their own schedules to a minimum of two training sessions per week.     Hotel and Tourism Management is diverse and global in nature and one of the growing industries around the world. The Hotel and Tourism Management Studies program is designed to prepare students for careers in the fast-paced, rewarding, and challenging world of hospitality management. The program appeals to individuals who are charismatic, outgoing, capable, and energetic. Its objective is to produce qualified graduates who are ready to work in hotels and other accommodation services at a supervisory level and in tourism industry. Students will gain a broad range of management and operational skills and practical tools that will assist them in addressing situations that may arise within a hospitality/tourism/service environment. The program provides the skills to progress to higher-level positions, given the proper combination of skills, experience, personal attributes, and additional training.
